(Updated 2009-05-15: WebCamSaver 3.00 released today. Thanks for all the feedback during the beta - the free registration key offer is now closed.)

Catfood WebCamSaver 3.00 is now available as a beta release. If you send feedback on the beta before WebCamSaver 3.00 ships then I'll send you a free registration key. Tell me what you'd like to see in WebCamSaver, or let me know if you experience any problems with the beta.

I'll update this post with each beta version, and also when the final version is released. The first beta version is 3.00.0087 and both loads and closes much faster than version 2. It also fixes a few bugs in version 2 including a handle leak.

I'm looking forward to hearing what you think about the new WebCamSaver!

(Updated 2009-04-11 to 3.00.0100: Thanks for the feedback so far. WebCamSaver now defaults to showing webcams where it's between 6am and 10pm local time, so you'll see more daylight. You can change this default in Catfood WebCamSaver settings. The installer has also been overhauled and I've made some more startup speed improvements.)

(Updated 2009-05-01 to 3.00.0230: Added the most requested feature - you can now easily pick which webcams to display in Catfood WebCamSaver Settings using checkboxes in the webcam list. It's also easier to customize the display font, including outlining the text to make it more readable. I've also improved power management so that WebCamSaver will stop updating when your monitor powers off (and also won't stop unexpectedly - previously it would run for at most an hour). Lastly the installer is now Authenticode signed. Please keep the feedback coming.)

(Updated 2009-05-08 to 3.00.0318: Now includes Catfood WebCam Browser. This tool allows you to watch any of the webcams outside of the screensaver. You can flip between random cams or pick a cam to watch from the full list. If you like the cam you can click a button to launch the web page where you can control it. Also fixed a problem with webcam description encoding (funny characters in some description instead of the expected accents) and improved uninstall.)

I`ve used webcamsaver for a week now and it seems fine but the live cam update only seems to go down to 1 second I`ve managed to get it down to 0.25 seconds update and was wondering if this is a technical problem or not (it`s a great screensaver thanks)

Thanks Glyn, I'm glad you're enjoying it. 0.25 seconds is the fastest update you can specify. For most of the webcams you're not likely to be able to update any faster even if you wanted to. If you'd like a free key please email me.

I've been fascinated by your 'saver'!  It strikes me that so many different places & cultures seem to share some common traits, so that each saver appears to be both familiar and exotic.  At first I was dissapointed with picture quality, until I went to 'display' in the control panel and set screen resolution to full blast at 1280x1024.  Wow!  This is a really fun screensaver.

Thanks Tom. If you have a high resolution display then you can configure WebCamSaver to display 4 or 16 webcams at the same time. If you'd like a free key contact me using the link at the start of the post.
